A day at the lake...

The boys and I spent the day at the lake. It was wonderful. No really, had a great time, seriously!

Anyone out there remember when you'd take your kids to the lake and spend the day blowing up floaties, slathering on the sunblock and running yourself silly trying to keep up with the kiddies?? Yeah...(sigh)...I remember that too. Somewhere in the back of my mind, anyway. After the, "Mom can you get my back?" and "Going in now!", it was me (Mom) sittin in a chair with the rest of the "old folks" up on the bank looking out at my "kids" diving off the pier into 14 ft of water, tubing behind a speed boat and flirting with the girls in bikinis.

Yep, that's me, Mom of teenage boys. When did that happen?

There are perks. Like, unloading the car, and the big strong boys get to carry the cooler and all of the chairs. If the sun is lined up with the moon just right, they'll set out your chair for you and maybe even get you a bottle of water before running off. You do actually get to sit and sun yourself on the bank instead of running around like a chicken and being forced into the smelly murky water of the lake. No carrying a toddler up and down the bank every 5 minutes. You get to hang out with ppl your own age and have a conversation that does not consist of "No, honey, not right now", "Hold on one minute and Mommy will get it" etc....No seriously, you really do have other things to talk about, other words to string together into something that resembles an intellegent thought.

Considering all those "perks", I reckon I don't have alot to complain about these days...

Except maybe the passing of time....;)

  2. Thank you (bow). LOL! I haven't written anything past a "Parenting ltr/email, visitation agreement or Parental Notice" in years! It was extremely enjoyable and relaxing! It's another one of those things that was lost in my busy life, I guess. Thanks for getting me back to it!!
